We, the officers and trustees of MHOA are extremely proud of our organization.  Here are some of
the great reasons for joining MHOA:

  • MHOA is a non-profit corporation formed to foster, promote and protect the interests of
Manufactured/Mobile Home owners in Washington State.

  • MHOA worked with other advocacy groups to win a court case in King County (Christine Work
Case) which ruled that a mobile home is a single family residence.

  • MHOA worked with other advocacy groups on a case which resulted in the Washington State
Legislature declaring the $9.40 license fee imposed on mobile homes unconstitutional.  The
    State refunded these fees.

  • MHOA supporters won a court case (Creed Case) which permits mobile home owners to place
their mobile homes on private property in King County.

  • MHOA worked with the MHCW to get the state legislature to prevent the city of Spokane from
charging sewer connection fees to parks when the parks were not hooked up to the system.
This cost would have been  passed on to the residents if allowed to stand.

  • MHOA worked with other advocacy groups to get the "Woodshed Act" passed.  This prevents
park owners from converting repair responsibility on permanent structures, carports and sheds
to the tenants.  This act is now part of the RCW 59.20 as section 59.20.135.

  • MHOA worked with other advocacy groups to get a Manufactured Housing Community
    Preservation Bill passed in 2008 (E2SHB 1621)

  • MHOA worked with other advocacy groups and got the MHLTA enforcement/compliance bill
(ESHB 1461) passed during the 2007 session.  This program is being administered by the
Washington State Attorney General and is operated under RCW 59.30.

  • MHOA is also working with other groups to get a 5 year park closure bill passed this session

  • MHOA is currently working with the Legislative Action Team to get a 5 year park closure
    notification bill.

  • MHOA is presenting legislation to the House and Senate on Manufactured Housing Financing
    Assistance.

  • MHOA is constantly searching for group purchasing arrangements for its members

  • MHOA is now working with and encouraging its members to work with the local governments
to get manufactured/mobile home issues resolved.  These would include zoning issues and park
closure issues just to mention a couple.
