YOU DID IT             YOU DID IT              YOU DID IT

UPDATE          UPDATE           UPDATE          UPDATE

Our bill was signed by the Governor on Friday May 11,
2007.  The bill signing started at 9:30 am in the
Governors office and our bill was signed at 11:09 am.

Our Compliance/Registration bill (2ESHB 1461) has passed both the House and the Senate and is on its way to the
Governor for signature.  Even with many amendments it is a great bill, one that we have been trying to get for
many years.  Your efforts on behalf of the manufactured housing community residents has been outstanding,
appreciated and successful.

This bill gives the residents, and the park owners, a vehicle whereby they can file a complaint with the Attorneys
General office if they feel there has been a violation of the RCW 59.20 Manufactured/Mobile Home
Landlord/Tenant Act.  Naturally there are certain procedures which must be followed but there is now a very
distinct avenue for the filing of complaints.  When we find out the exact procedures the AG's office wants
complainants to follow we will get the word out to everyone.

We will be discussing this bill thoroughly at our annual meeting to be held on May 19th, 2007 at Leisure Estates in
Renton.  Click on the agenda link for directions to the meeting.  Our outstanding Legislative Committee will be
letting us all know what happens now so if you can attend this meeting please be there.

                  MISSION STATEMENT

The  Purpose and Objectives that guide
MHOA were designed with a concern for
improving the quality of life for all mobile
home owners, and promoting the health,
safety and welfare of the owners of mobile
homes. Our major activities center around:

Encouraging residents to join our association.

Encouraging residents in a park to form a
chapter, centering on the importance of how
this allows the residents to speak united in
dealing with park problems.

Educating people who live in
manufactured/mobile home communities as
to the rights afforded them by the Revised
Code of Washington [RCW 59.20—the Mobile/
Manufactured Home Landlord/ Tenant Act].
Speaking as an organized voice for owners of
mobile homes to State Government.

Providing park purchase information
assistance for various forms of park buy-
outs.

Maintaining communication with agencies
and groups involved in mobile home affairs.

Monitoring, initiating and promoting
legislation relating to mobile home living,
keeping abreast of  legislation provided by
others, and reporting these proposals to all
members through this publication.

Helping homeowners to help themselves in
as many different ways as possible.

Teacher Debbie Moon's first graders were discussing a picture of a family.  One
little boy in the picture had a different color hair than the other family
members.  One child suggested that he was adopted.     A little girl said, "I know
all about adoptions because I was adopted."

"What does it mean to be adopted?" asked another child.   “It means," said the
girl, "that you grew in your mommy's heart instead of her tummy."

     MHOA NEEDS HELP

The MHOA state office is like the Marine Corps.  We are looking for a few good men
and/or women who would like to volunteer some of their time as District Directors.  The
District Director is a very important part of our organization.

This person would basically contact mobile/manufactured communities in their district
when a resident calls the state office with a problem or if they would like to set up a
meeting to find out what MHOA is all about.  They are basically the presidents
representative in their district.  They are the first person they actually see when
contacting MHOA.

We are setting up training classes for Chapter Officers and District Directors to show
them what the job entails so the person is not left hanging out there.  Even if you are not
sure of what to do, we will work with you.

The State of Washington is currently divided into 8 districts.  We are working to make
the districts smaller so a District Director will be more able to handle the job and also to
make it easier for them to go to the parks without a lot of travel.

We currently need Dirctors for District 1 (Skagit County - Bellingham area.) District 4
(Pierce County)
 District 7 - Yakima and Tri-Cities and District 8 - Spokane

If you would like more information on these positions please contact the state office.
We really need your assistance.
